Box of Maine and 13-Year-Old Community Hero “D-Max” Launch Snack Box to Fight Childhood Hunger in Brewer
Brewer, Maine — Box of Maine and 13-year-old community leader and entrepreneur Dorian “D-Max” Pillsbury have teamed up to launch the D-Max Snack Box.

This collaboration brings together two mission-driven Maine brands:
* Box of Maine, known for curating and shipping Maine-made favorites nationwide
* D-Max, a Little League Community Hero, United Way Volunteer of the Year, young author, and major funder of the Brewer Snack Fund
*
Since 2020, D-Max has been raising money to support food security programs after learning that teachers were using their own money to make sure students had snacks. His efforts have gained statewide and national attention, inspiring countless students and adults to join his mission.
A Collaboration Rooted in Impact
Dan Finnemore, owner of Box of Maine, shared why he wanted to be part of this important work:
“Since we started this company, we found that greater satisfaction comes from giving back to our community and I absolutely love D-Max’s mission. I just couldn’t sit back and watch — I wanted to be a part of it. That’s why this collaboration was necessary. We look forward to raising money so that other kids can have support, because who doesn’t love snacks?”
A Custom Snack Box That Gives Back
The D-Max Snack Box is filled with D-Max’s favorite Maine-made snacks — a custom selection he chose based on what he actually enjoys. Buyers can also select an optional add-on: a signed copy of his children’s book, D-Max’s Birthday Wish, complete with a personalized message, making the box a meaningful holiday gift with a mission.
D-Max’s work has had a measurable impact in the community. This past , he raised more than $1,200 for the Brewer Food Pantry, helping keep shelves stocked during a period of growing need.
Community Partnerships Are Powering This Movement
Lisa Liberatore, D-Max’s mother and business partner, emphasized the power of collaboration:
“When Dan reached out about collaborating with D-Max, I was thrilled. Opportunities to work together to amplify this mission are powerful — and they’ve proven successful time and again. Most recently, D-Max partnered with Maine Savings to collect more than 2,900 birthday cake items for food pantries across the state. We are grateful to leverage Dorian’s platform for the greater good and continue finding new ways to ensure no child goes hungry.”
A Perfect Holiday Gift That Makes an Impact
The launch of the D-Max Snack Box arrives just in time for the holiday season, offering a gift that supports Maine makers while helping children in the Brewer community.
